We need smart and strategic economic development decisions. I support a tourism plan that benefits small business owners while limiting impact on local residents. I will work with board members and listen to residents and business owners to design solutions.
I support a vibrant Main Street that keeps the traditional feel of our quaint little town while adding much-needed contemporary appeal. Supporting planning decisions that keep small businesses thriving while also allowing new small business opportunities is key.
I actively model and promote a safe space for diversity, inclusion and learning in our community. I will continue to advocate for diverse youth programs as well as engaging programs for our seniors.
We need proactive environmental planning and zoning that will protect our local water sources, open spaces, and wildlife habitats. I support looking to the future to incorporate sustainable energy choices for our town.
I’ve called Cornwall home for over 12 years. I continue to love the sense of connectedness, the natural beauty, and the small town feel that our community offers. I have been volunteering with Cornwall schools for more than 10 years at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I am an active member of the PTO and sat on the CCMS PTO Board for 4 years as Secretary. I am a vocal advocate for equity in our schools and for fair and comparable compensation for our teachers. Additionally, I support the passing of inclusive school budgets and I’ve adamantly opposed cuts in arts and STEM education.
I began volunteering with Girls on the Run Hudson Valley, a local nonprofit, in 2014 as a coach and program facilitator. After 3 years I was offered a job as Program Manager with the organization. In that role, I successfully implemented and helped grow teams in Orange, Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester counties, leading to over 5,000 girls in grades 3rd-8th to be mentored. In 2018, I was promoted to Fund Development Manager. I successfully helped obtained over $30k in sponsorships and grants for the organization during my time in this position.
I am excited to take the next step in my journey by serving my community on a local government level. I believe our amazing town has so much potential. It is a pivotal time for Cornwall, and the time to act is now.
Family is paramount to me and will always come first. Our Cornwall community is the place where my children live, play, learn, and grow, so it is important to me that I am an active participant in helping to keep our community thriving. I have always loved serving my community, and I believe in promoting equality, inclusion, and safety for all.
As a United States Marine Corps family for 20 years, we feel very fortunate to have enjoyed living and thriving in the beautiful Hudson Valley, and we’ve loved calling Cornwall our home for so many years. My husband Dax is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and is the Commanding Officer of the Marine Aerial Refueling Transport Squadron 452 on Stewart Air Base. In 2009, Dax was deployed to Afghanistan, and a short time later we learned our next duty station would be New York. When we moved to Cornwall in 2010, we immediately fell in love with the natural beauty, sense of community and the convenience to NYC!
Together, Dax and I have two awesome teenagers. Our daughter Carson is 16, and our son Cash is 13. Both of our children proudly attend Cornwall schools and enjoy activities such as swim team, cross-country, track and drama club.
I believe in preserving traditions while improving conditions. Supporting local businesses to ensure a more economically vibrant Main Street, ensuring a safe, equitable community and protecting our local water sources, open-spaces and wildlife habitats are just a few of the key components to keeping our town thriving, relevant, affordable, and fun.
I am excited to listen to community members and collaborate with local government and community organizations to find productive solutions to real issues in our community. I have a strong background in service, I am honest, energetic, hard-working, and I strive to constantly be learning.
